On December 14, 2007, Ben R. Luján announced this candidacy to seek the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Tom Udall. Ben is a New Mexico Public Regulation Commissioner and currently represents 11 counties in Congressional District 3. Growing Up
Ben R. Luján grew up learning the time-honored traditions and respected values of rural New Mexico.  He was born in Nambé, New Mexico, a historic farming community north of Santa Fe that is bordered by the pueblos of Nambé and Pojoaque. Read More


Family
Ben is very proud of his family. His father worked hard and long to provide for all his children, and in 1972, the elder Luján decided to run for public office and was elected to the Santa Fe County Commission. It was a pivotal decision that ultimately led to a vocation of public service on behalf of the people of New Mexico. Today, Ben’s father serves as Speaker of the New Mexico House of Representatives and is one of the very last blue-collar state House Speakers in America. Read More
